Radisson Blu Mogan:
My honest review & Travel tips

I didn’t plan to fall in love with the Radisson Blu Mogan. But then again, I didn’t plan much for this trip at all. Cheap flights, a last-minute booking, and a desperate need for sunshine brought me to Gran Canaria. And somehow, I ended up in a 5-star resort that felt like a movie set.
Think palm trees, pools big enough to get lost in, and breakfasts that made me question my self-control. But this isn’t just another hotel review. This is my story of staying at Radisson Blu Mogan – plus all the little tips you’ll want before you book.
1. Location and First Impressions
Getting to Radisson Blu Mogan
We landed in Gran Canaria and picked up a rental car for the trip to Mogán. The drive took around an hour and a half, but I didn’t mind one bit – it’s the kind of route where you want to roll down the windows and just enjoy the scenery. Mountain curves, coastal stretches, and the kind of sunlight that makes you reach for your sunglasses every five minutes.
Finding the hotel was easy. It’s impossible to miss a building that size, surrounded by tall palm trees swaying like they’re on a postcard.

First look at the hotel
The first thing I noticed? Space. The reception area is massive, with high ceilings and an airy feel that immediately makes you breathe a little deeper. The scent was fresh and floral: the kind of smell that says “you’re on holiday now.”
The staff were friendly and quick with smiles, and we were handed a cold glass of prosecco as a welcome. After hours of traveling, that bubbly glass felt like medicine. The check-in process took a bit longer than expected, but I was too busy looking around at the spotless floors, tasteful decor, and rows of palm trees outside to care.

2. Rooms and Comfort
Room size and layout
We stayed in a standard room with a pool view, and I have to say, it felt way bigger than I expected. The double bed was comfy, and there was a large sofa that made lounging in the evenings a pleasure. The balcony was a highlight – big enough for two sunbeds and a small table with chairs. Morning coffee with the sun warming your face, or just soaking up the Gran Canaria rays, it was perfect. Everything was spotless and open, giving the room a relaxing, airy vibe that made it hard to leave.

Beds, Bathrooms, and Amenities
The bed was soft but supportive, with bedding that made you sink in without feeling trapped. The bathroom was modern and generous, featuring a shower, bathtub, and even two sinks, which is always a win for couples. Our room came with all the essentials: fridge, minibar, safe, TV, air conditioning, and WiFi. They even left complimentary water every time they cleaned. The only downside? Our room was only properly cleaned twice in seven days, and even then it wasn’t as thorough as I would have hoped.

3. Dining and Drinks
Food and drinks at Radisson Blu Mogan were definitely one of the highlights of our stay. From sunrise coffee to sunset cocktails, there was always something delicious to enjoy.
Breakfast Buffet
Breakfast was huge – and I mean huge. Multiple types of bread, pastries, eggs, ham, smoked salmon, cookies, cakes, and a ton of fresh fruit and juice. As a fruit lover, I was in heaven, especially with all the papaya I could eat. The buffet was split between indoor and outdoor seating, which made for a bright and airy start to the day. No music, but honestly, who wants that at 7am? The only funny moment was trying to convince my partner that prosecco at breakfast could be “acceptable” – it mostly wasn’t, but I tried!
Lunch and Dinner
For lunch, we mostly skipped the a la carte restaurants since we were on half board. Dinner was where the magic happened – every night a different buffet theme, from barbecue to Asian, Italian, and more. You could check the theme on the app every morning. My favourite night? Unlimited sushi, hands down. The only small hiccup was that sparkling water orders somehow always came as still, but it didn’t ruin anything.

Bars and Poolside Snacks
With two pools came two bars, serving drinks and snacks all day. I stuck mainly to cocktails, and the espresso martini was absolutely top-notch. It was the perfect way to relax after a day in the sun, towel in hand, cocktail in the other.

4. Facilities and Activities
Radisson Blu Mogan isn’t just about rooms and food – there’s plenty to do, whether you want to relax, get active, or join in some fun.
Pools and Sunbathing areas
The hotel has three pools: a quiet pool, a family pool, and a small kids’ pool. Surrounded by palm trees and garden areas, the pools are great for soaking up the sun. There are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas, though sometimes on the quiet pool it was a bit tricky to snag one. The family pool is lively, with music and activities keeping the energy up – perfect if you’re traveling with kids.

Spa and Wellness
I didn’t check out the spa during our stay, but from what I saw, it looked very well-kept and relaxing. The wellness area is designed for unwinding, and treatments can be booked easily through the app or reception.
Sports and Entertainment
Sports lovers have a lot to do. There’s a medium-to-small gym that never felt too crowded. Tennis, paddle, basketball, and football courts are available, plus a yoga deck that was under construction when we visited (now ready!). I tried basketball – great fun, but very hot under the Gran Canaria sun. Entertainment also keeps things lively, from pool quizzes with cool prizes to other organized activities for guests of all ages.

5. Surroundings and Local Attractions
Staying at Radisson Blu Mogan means you have both relaxation and exploration within easy reach.
Puerto de Mogán Town
Just 8-10 minutes on foot from the hotel, Puerto de Mogán is, in my opinion, the most beautiful town in Gran Canaria. Picture white buildings, chic streets, vibrant pink flowers, and a lovely little beach. There are plenty of restaurants and bars, perfect for a leisurely evening stroll or grabbing a coffee while people-watching.

Day Trip Ideas
If you want to explore further, the Maspalomas dunes and Taurito beach for sunset are must-visits. We personally preferred staying closer to the hotel to fully relax, but both spots are great for a quick adventure or a memorable Instagram shot.

Final Thoughts and Travel Tips
Staying at Radisson Blu Mogan was exactly what we needed — a perfect mix of relaxation, good food, and just enough adventure. From the spacious rooms and comfy beds to the endless pools and fun activities, the hotel really delivers on the 5-star promise. Breakfasts were a fruity paradise, dinners kept us excited every night, and even a simple espresso martini by the pool felt like a mini-vacation in itself. The surroundings, especially Puerto de Mogán, add charm and beauty without requiring much effort to explore. Sure, the housekeeping could have been a bit better, but honestly, the rest made up for it tenfold.

Travel Tips
Book a room with a pool view – the balcony is perfect for morning coffee or evening wine while enjoying the scenery.
Use the hotel app – reserve activities, check dinner themes, and book sports courts easily.
Walk to Puerto de Mogán – it’s only 8-10 minutes and the town is stunning; don’t miss it.
Try the themed dinners – sushi night was our favorite, and every night offers a new culinary experience.
Hit the pools early – especially the quiet pool if you want a sunbed without the rush.
Plan a day trip if you have energy – Maspalomas dunes or Taurito beach at sunset are worth it, but don’t feel pressured; relaxing at the hotel is a valid plan too.
